Professional Experience


Ability West                                               

 Social Care Worker/Care Assistant (Relief Panel) - Garbally Oaks/Ash Services        11th Nov 2018-Present

  • Assisting in the personal care of the service users.

  • Assisting the individual towards their own personal development, and working towards their own personal care plan goals (PCP).

  • Helping to ensure the upkeep of the service user’s home, as well as providing a safe and relaxing environment.

  • Accompanying the service users on social outings.

  • Making sure informational records and log notes are kept up to date.

Basic Instructor / Key Worker - St Dympnas ADS                                              2nd January 2019- August 2020

  • Assisting under guidance of the senior instructors in the personal care of the service users and establishing a healthy working relationship based on respect and equality and working towards their independence.

  • Role of Keyworker to service user, facilitating in ensuring their individual needs and personal goals are met, linking in with staff, family, multi-disciplinary teams, holding annual case review for individuals.

  • Assisting the service users in their ever-continuing personal growth, in addition by working towards their own personal care plan goals (PCP).

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in carrying out their lesson plans for the pupils, including individualised lesson plans for the pupils under the teachers direction.

  •  Ensuring the safety and well-being of the children (on a 1-1/ or 2-1 basis) whilst out on activities and excursions.

  • Assisting in feeding, personal hygiene and toileting.

  • Being a support network to the other workers/children on the daily outings.

  •  Providing children and young people a non-judgmental safe space to talk about their thoughts and feelings, whilst offering them help and support if needed.

  • Assisting in training in volunteer trainees in shadowing and supervision sessions.

  • As a mentor, I have the duty and responsibility to be a support network to fellow volunteers if they need support, as well as filling out a quality report at the end of every shift.
